[Review] Botanic Heal boH Derma Intensive Cica Panthenol Blemish Cream

This is the last product I have left from the Kind Box Giveaway received in the beginning of the year. Since there’s not a whole lot to say about it, you can expect a very short review.

The Derma Intensive Cica Panthenol Blemish Cream (what a mouthful) comes with 70ml of product and is housed in a sturdy green plastic jar that I had actually mistakened for glass at first. It reminds me of the Dr. G R.E.D Blemish  products that cater to acne prone-sensitive skin which uses the same exact color scheme. I know zilch about Botanic Heal boH but I’ve seen it around at Olive Young. The blemish cream sells like hotcakes and while the popularity could largely be due to the influence of Director Pi’s 2019 video Rewind Top of Top Items, I too had wondered if it had the ability to soothe skin irritation. While I don’t have acne-prone skin, this came around the time my skin was still having bouts of irritation so I was actually very keen to try it.

The Derma Intensive Cica Panthenol Blemish Cream came with a 20ml toner sample that I have yet to try it so I won’t be commenting any further on it.

Centella Asiatica Extract (73%), Panthenol (5%), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Purified Water, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Bergamot Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Orange Peel Oil, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Pentylene Glycol, Triethylhexanoin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Acrylate/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Citric Acid, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Sodium Citrate, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA

The cream claims to soothe blemishes, strengthen weakened barriers and replenish skin with moisture. It comes with 5% Panthenol which aids in regenerating the skin barrier. Panthenol is not just great for drawing moisture to the skin, it also prevents it from escaping. This cream does come with 73% Centella Asiatica which is quite a bit compared to what I’ve seen. There are other derivatives of Centella Asiatica as well as Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Hyaluronate thrown in the mix. Centella Asiatica is a well-loved ingredient in the skincare world but it’s not one that I get excited for. Panthenol on the other hand, I like.

I have tried using this twice a day as my main moisturizer but came to the conclusion that I liked it better as a day moisturizer. In addition to that, it recently became my default morning/day cream after I had incorporated another cream with exfoliating agents into my night routine.

order of application:

morning: foam cleanser -> toner -> serum -> Derma Intensive Cica Panthenol Blemish Cream -> sunscreen

The Derma Intensive Cica Panthenol Blemish Cream has a texture that falls in between a gel and cream. It’s not exactly lightweight but it’s not incredibly heavy either. I was expecting something heavy as Director Pi had described but was pleasantly surprised as it didn’t feel too burdensome my skin. I don’t recall if this came with a spatula as it’s been some time since I’ve had it. If it did, I have misplaced it somewhere. I usually just use my hands and apply this by dotting it on my skin and massaging it over my face and neck. The cream spreads easily but does leave a slightly tacky feel. It doesn’t grease me up too badly in my day routine but as a night cream, I always wake up to grease central in the morning. It supplies the skin with a ton of moisturization though. The Derma Intensive Cica Panthenol Blemish Cream passes with flying colors when it comes to moisturizing skin, however it scores zero as a soothing cream. It didn’t do diddly squat for irate skin which was what I thought it was supposed to be good for.

Although I’ve had this since the beginning of the year, there’s still quite a bit of left. It felt too much for my skin during the warmer months so it got shelved and forgotten. After going through two jars of the Real Barrier Ceramide Cream, I decided it was time to put the third on hold to finish up products that I’ve opened. This just happens be one of those said products.  While I’m not a fan of it, it moisturizes and doesn’t hurt my skin so I’m determined to finish it.

Honestly, there’s not a whole lot I have to say about this other than it might be great for others but sadly doesn’t do much for me. The cream is priced at 28,000KRW but depending on where you look, I will say there’s a fair chance you can get it for much less.

The good:

  • moisturizing

The bad:

  • encourages sebum production on oily skin
  • doesn’t do anything for heated skin, redness or irritation
