[Review] I’M FROM Mugwort Gel Cleanser

It’s been a while since I’ve used a cleanser that I’ve really liked and by that I mean something that I truly look forward to. To be fair, many of the cleansers I emptied this year weren’t bad, it’s just that most of them were not that memorable for me. So, I’m pretty stoked to share one that not only smells good, works well but is also actually decently priced!

This mild gel cleanser contains 60% of mugwort extracts to remove makeup & sunscreen while cleansing and soothing your skin. Using the Cold Extraction Method, this product fully conveys all the active ingredients of Ganghwa Mugwort without any damage.

Things about the Mugwort Gel Cleanser:

  • 150ml
  • gel type
  • mild, daily cleanser
  • hypo-allergenic test
  • non-stripping
  • claims to remove sunscreen, fine dust and debris from pores
  • recommended to all skin types

Ingredients: Artemisia Princeps Extract (60%), Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Lauryl Hydroxysultaine, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Chloride, Tromethamine, Hexadecene, Tetradecene, Sodium Sulfate, Artemisia Vulgaris Oil, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Dextrin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract

This is stored in a plastic tube as opposed to a pump bottle because of its stiffer texture and I have to say it was a damn good move because I still recall the times I had to pump like a madwoman to get a certain gel cleanser to dispense. I find the tube packaging very travel-friendly although this is a long tube that carries 150ml of product. So maybe not as travel-friendly for everyone else, but lucky for me, space is never an issue when I travel since most of it is done on the road.

Gel cleansers are known for being less exciting in the foam department but are known for really working out debris and clearing skin of things like oil, impurities and such without stripping skin and I think this one does exactly just that. I use this as my morning cleanser and as a second cleanser in my evening routine. As a fan of double cleansing, there are always two cleansers in my PM routine. Even if products claim to remove sunscreen and makeup, I rely on my first cleansers which are usually a cleansing oil or cleansing balm to do the heavy duty work first before going in with a second cleanser. So I can’t tell you if this has the prowess to take out sunscreens.

I can only tell you it washes off without stripping and leaves my skin refreshed and clean. I haven’t had any issues with skin feeling taut or dry which is something I experience easily when I don’t have an acidic cleanser in my routine. I’ve talked too much about pH balanced cleansers in the past so I will spare you the boredom and repetition today. Personally, I like my cleansers acidic because I find those to suit my skin’s needs best. From what I know, this one does not claim to be an acidic cleanser, if it were, they would make sure we knew it but since it’s nowhere to be found, I can only assume it isn’t? My pH strips have gone MIA since I moved so I can’t check myself. If anyone knows, please drop me a comment!

If you enjoy the way the Mugwort Cream smells, chances are you’ll like the way this product smells as well. It’s got the most perfect herbal, medicinal smell to wake up or wind down with which makes me look forward to the product each time I use it. I normally prefer unscented products but I don’t mind having some skincare that smells like this.

I would definitely recommend this to the crowd who are fans of mugwort (60% of it here) and in favor of cleansers that are more on the mild side. If you are into cleansers that offer up generous amounts of foam, you might be able to achieve that with the aid of a bubble net or something to that effect but remember the amount of foam a cleanser produces does not equate to its efficiency. The foam may act as a cushion as you cleanse which helps reduce friction caused by rubbing but cleansers shouldn’t be judged based on their foaming element (says someone who used to do just that).

This was a total hit for me and is something I would love to get more of. The scent is something I totally live for and I love that it’s actually on the more affordable side as far as pricing goes. This brand is known for their aesthetics, quality products but the prices are not the friendliest so it’s nice to have a product that is decently priced. Another pro is this will likely last longer than other cleansers as very little product is needed for the work to be done.

The good:

  • natural scent
  • gentle, non-stripping
  • produces decent foam
  • little product required

The bad:

  • none

Thanks for this informative post. I personally am enjoying this cleanser, too. By the way, Wishtrend have updated their information for this cleanser on their site. They claim it has a pH of 4.5 +- 1.0.
